Tennis clinic
A tennis clinic sponsored by the Rappahannock Park Authority will start on Monday, July 22. There will be four one-hour classes for beginners, intermediates and advanced. The cost is $30. The instructor will be Evelyn Kerr and registration will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 at the Rappahannock Park. For more details call Evelyn at 675-3924 or Jean at 675-3670.
Dodson reunion
The Ernest and Neva Nicholson Dodson family reunion will be held at the Rappahannock Park near Washington on July 14. All relatives and friends are invited to attend. Everyone is asked to bring a picnic lunch. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
Band to perform
The Venus Jones Band will perform at the Child Care and Learning Center’s pavillion from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, July 6. Admission is $7 per person. Proceeds will benefit CCLC’s scholarship fund. For more information call 675-3237.
Beef BBQ planned
The Amissville Ruritan Club’s 30th annual Beef BBQ will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 at the Amissville fire hall. Price is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. For details call Buddy at 937-5972.
Benefit church dinner
Chitterling dinners for $5, pig feet for $3.50 and chicken dinners for $4 will be sold from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Vivian Gatewood in Gid Brown Hollow on Thursday, July 4. The dinners will include choice of two vegetables, rolls, iced tea or coffee. Local delivery is available for $1. For delivery call 987-8962, Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Procees will benefit Promise Land Baptist Church.
