The following are comments from the wife of a recent Hospice of the Rapidan patient who will be called Bill to ensure confidentiality. Bill is a retired 58-year-old diagnosed with lung cancer several years ago. Bill’s hobbies are gardening and woodworking.
“I will always be grateful to Hospice. You are a great group of persons. I would like to mention the loving kindness of your nurse, social worker, and volunteer. In all aspects, staff and volunteers respected oUr wishes, beliefs, and values. You did an excellent job of promoting comfort.”
Bill’s wife, children, neighbors, and church family were very supportive, allowing him to remain at home during this precious time. As with many people, Bill and his family were afraid of pain.
