Lucy K. Davis
Graveside services for Lucy Kirkland Davis were June 20 at Warrenton Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis, a retired teacher taught at both Warrenton Elementary School and Fauquier High School. She was a member of the Fauquier Chapter of the American Red Cross.
She was born in Camden, S.C., on May 28, 1912 and died at her home near Warrenton on June 18.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas W.S. Davis of Warrenton; her sons, Thomas W.S. Davis Jr. of Warrenton and Alexander Kirkland Davis of Washington, Va.; a grandson, Alexander Kirkland Davis Jr.; and three granddaughters, Dominique Marie David, Lucy Elizabeth Davis and Carole Anne Davis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Warrenton Rescue Squad.
Bertha Burke
Mrs. Bertha Nethers Burke, 83, of Woodville, died Sunday, June 30 at Elder Care Gardens in Charlottesville.
A native of Rappahannock County, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Christine Hawkins Nethers. She was the widow of Walter Burke.
Mrs. Burke was a homemaker and a member of Five Forks Regular Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, R. Marshall Burke and Richard W. Burke, both of Woodville; two broths’ ers, George Ashby Nethers of Front Royal and Charles Henry Nethers of San Diego, Calif.; and two grandsons, Jerry W. Burke and Richard W. Burke II.
Mrs. Burke was preceded in death by three brothers, John Nethers, Robert Nethers and Clyde Nethers and two sisters, Dora Updike and Mary Wood.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 3 at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Wilfred Deppen and Rev. Carl Menefee officiating. Interment was in Washington Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Daniel M. Norman, Timothy W. Norman, H. Taylor Updike Jr., Jerry W. Burke, Richard W. Burke II, Nelson Nethers, Michael Nethers and Billy Nethers.
