Ag phone survey conducted
The survey of county agriculture, commissioned by the Board of Supervisors and being done in cooperation with the American Farmland Trust, will begin May 13 and last a couple weeks.
More than 240 farm families in Rappahannock County are being telephoned and questioned about the scope and size of their operations, as well as for information concerning their future plans.
The county government's Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC) secured grants for more than $20,000 for the project. Results of the survey are expected in July.
"The information is to be used by the county in planning, so that agriculture can be accommodated," said Alex Sharp, a AAC member instrumental in conducting the survey. Those with questions, or concerns about the telephone survey, can call Mr. Sharp at 675-3033 or 675-3887.
