The second week of play for the Rappahannock Athletic Association saw the fields in Amissville and Sperryville filled with youth baseball action.
In Miyor League action, the Pirates overcame the Red Sox 7-2 behind the 3-RBI effort of Jona Bona and five strike-outs by Travis Dodson. For the Red Sox, pitcher Jon Heddleston threw out a batter and collected a hit.
The Pirates also won their second game this week, beating the Orioles 3-1 to increase their record to 3-0. The Orioles fell to 1-1. For the Pirates, Ricky Butler hit a home run and Chris Sealock had a single. Jesse Leach doubled to lead the Orioles at the plate.
Ricky Butler threw 10 strikeouts for the Pirates, and the infield put together a triple-play in the fifth inning. Chad Bolton struck out four on the mound for the O’s.
The Cubs outlasted the Tigers 14-13 in T-Ball competition. The Tigers’ Brian Dental clocked two home runs and anchored the team’s defense at shortstop. Dean Lawrence played well in center field.
