NEW YORK - Domino Sugar presented an award for Best Sugarwork as part of its co-sponsorship of the seventh annual National Pastry Chefs competition and tasting, held at the 21 Club here to benefit the Culinary Institute of America, (CIA). The award was given to Chef David Knight of The Inn at Little Washington, Washington, Va.
“Let Them Eat Cake” was the theme of this year’s competition, which benefits a CIA scholarship fund dedicated to continuing education in the Baking and Pastry arts.
The main “Let Them Eat Cake” award went to Pastry Chef Jill Light of the Lansdowne Conference Resort and additional awards were given by other sponsors, including Tiffany & Co. and Grand Marnier.
Said Mr. Knight upon his receipt of the Domino Sugar award, “The only sugar I ever use in my work is Domino Sugar, to this is very appropriate. It’s really exciting to be recognized in such a prestigious manner.”
“Domino Sugar belongs at this event, and we really enjoyed participating. We’re looking forward to being a part of this again,” said Dominio Sugar’s Michael Myers, director of food service sales.
