Over the years the emphasis has shifted to issues of the environment and learning about the people who have lived in the area, starting with the Native Americans and including the people who were moved out to make room for the park as well as the students themselves and tourists who come now.
He said the emphasis has also shifted to more hands-on activities for the students, pushing them to make their own discoveries and form their own opinions.
Summer Quest will end Friday in Culpeper when the Mountains group will share its experiences with other groups and enjoy performances by a group which has been working on theater and music.
