parents, but in many families both parents work and not necessarily in this county.

Some are single parent families. Nor are the schools able to pick up the load. We are a community and community effort is what is needed. This is why I believe that CCWHY is not and will not be just another program. However, you must call Judy Tole, 937-6850 or Anne Kerr, 937-5483.

You must ask them what you can do and then do it. A mentor program, dances, coffee house, theatre group and cookouts are just a few of the ideas. Who will do the calling, the list keeping, hire the band, set up the food or chaperone? We will!

Lastly, to our children. We are not trying to pry into your lives. Statistics are cold, bleak facts that are incapable of telling us about the persons who are the statistics.

However without these statistics we will never know there is a problem. The statistics make this person feel like we have let you down. Were we not listening when you had something to tell us? Have we made you feel unimportant? Does it seem that there is no room in our lives for you? Do you know that there are many adults who care very much for you and want you to have a glorious life? How can I help.

The purpose of education is the growth and development of individuals. If a community is to nurture its members, many people need to work together for the common good.

Education is not something we do to our children in order to make American businesses successful, but much that is said about it today would lead one to think that it is.

In fact, when one reads almost daily such headlines as MGE Pleads Guilty to Fraud in Engine Sales in 1 Israel,” it looks as if what American business needs is not better educated employees but rather honest
