U.S. Rep. Frank R. Wolf, R10th, urged the nation last weekend to give the Republican Party a chance to control Congress before holding President Rush responsible for the nation’s economic and social problems.
Wolf spoke at the 10th District Republican Committee meeting and dinner on July 24 at Airlie House near Warrenton, attended by about 150 committee members and unit chairmen.
“Give us a Republican president. Give us a Republican Senate," Wolf said. “And give us a Republican House, and then 1 think it’s fair for Americans to hold us accountable.”
Wolf said that if Bush and the Republicans cannot bring economic change in the next four years, then a Democrat would be suited for office.
“If we can’t do it in four years, then let them take it," Wolf said, blaming economic stagnation on the Democratic Congress.
Following Wolfs speech, committee member and Northern Virginia developer William T. Hazel put a different spin on things. He was the only member to question Wolf about Rush’s efforts to improve the economy.
“You've got to love the man (Bush), but he’s not listening to us," Hazel said. “He is sitting there deaf to the world. He’s oblivious to what’s going on today.”
Hazel asked Wolf to deliver his message to Bush since few others have the ability to do so.
“The banking system is in shambles," he said.
