In 1787, 55 men met in Philadelphia to draft what was to become one of the greatest documents created by the hand and mind of man. This document was the United States Constitution.
Our founding fathers studied ancient, medieval, and contemporary methods of government. They knew the results of governmental experiments throughout the ages.
The Constitution produced the first republic of its kind with separate, co-equal branches that established checks and balances on one another. This revolutionary concept meant that the state was not the giver of power but the recipient.
Power was alloted by the people to the government. How fortunate we are that these men penned a document that guaranteed the blessings of liberty for all people in this great nation. We need only to look at today’s headlines reporting world news to find reason enough to eher
