Two Washington, Va. families, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Reeve and Richard and Jeanie McNear, have welcomed an international exchange student from Denmark into their homes for the academic year. Margarita Cortez Brain of Chile will be staying with the Reeves and Nina Ingemann Blicher of Denmark will be staying with the Mc* Nears.
| Wakefield opens
MARSHALL — Wakefield School in Marshall opened its doors for classes on Sept. 9. The traditional opening day assembly was held at the Marshall Annex and students were welcomed by acting headmaster T. Rex Wilson.
Soccer coach John Landis spoke to the students. This fall marks the reintroduction of varsity sports at the school. Several additional events were announced including a welcoming picnic for all Wakefield families and the traditional trip to the Renaissance Festival.
Food distributed Sept. 23
The Rappahannock County Department of Social Services will distribute USDA commodities from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from the basement of the Social Services office on Gay Street. All eligible recipients are urged to stop by the office during those hours to pick up their commodities. For information about the distribution, call Social Services at 675-3313.
