Workshops scheduled
WARRENTON — A workshop entitled Hazardous Waste Issues in Virginia will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 22 at the National Guard Armory, 692 Waterloo Road in Warrenton. The purpose of the workshop, said organizers, is to give Virginians an opportunity to state their views about hazardous waste issues and to indentify issues, problems and solutions that might be addressed in a hazardous waste management plan for Virginia. The public is invited.
Road work to begin
CULPEPER - Reconstruction work will begin this week on improvements to nearly one half mile of Route 687 between Route 29 and Pratts in Madison County. Entrances to Madison County High School, the Madison County school bus stop and Madison Primary School are on the section of raod to be improved. The contractor, Haymes Brothers Inc. of Chatham will construct the improvements under a $366,309 contract awarded by the Commonwealth Transportation Board in August. Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the project, said Culpeper resident engineer Larry Garber. However, said Garber, during the construction, it would be to a motorist’s advantage to use Route 230 and Route 29 between Madison and Pratts rather than Route 687.
