more students to enroll in the next few weeks and added “it’s reasonable to expect another 30 to 40 next year. It’s going along with projections,” he said. “We’re starting the year on a positive note.”
Twenty-three students were enrolled in Spring Mountain School when it started this Monday. Bethany Craig said the Waldorf school had 12 students in the class for three and four year olds, seven in the class for five and six year olds and four in the class for seven and eight year olds.
In the public schools Superintendent David Gangel continues to watch enrollment in kindergarten and first grade closely. On Monday there were 100 students in kindergarten, the maximum for four sections. There were 71 students in first grade on Monday. Dr. Gangel said he would call a School Board meeting for next Monday evening to present recommendations for dealing with the large kindergarten enrollment.
