Not only are the schools doing a poor job of teaching the basics (reading, writing, arithmetic, etc.) but they are driving a wedge between parents and child. Parental values are being driven out and replaced by attitudes that are without any religiously based morality.
What’s the answer? In a truly free country those who want prayer in school ought to have their schools and those who don’t want prayer should have theirs. Similarly, those who want phonics instead of look-say or whole language concepts should each have their schools, and so on. This way no one would be forced to pay for someone else’s idea of education.
Government schools should be paid for by those who wish to use them. They would either shape up or close down. It’s as simple as that.
