The two teams faced the Page County Panthers in a difficult away game. The J.V. team played hard, but failed to come up with a win. Their lack of experience might have hindered their play, but the teams excellent leadership skills have not affected their attitude.
“They are a good, hard working team,” says Coach Tupper. Coach Van de Graff added that they give 100 percent all the time. The varsity team played an incredible game against Page, with the lead shifting between the two all evening. The low number of players, however, left the girls in a tight situation, and Page went in to win the game by nine.
With two new coaches, the girls have experienced a change of pace. When asked how coaching girls differed from boys, Coach Tupper responded by commenting on the different emotional level. “With girls, it is easier to discover problems, and easier to solve them," replied the coach.
The girls have set many goals for themselves, but “the sky’s the limit,” said Coach Van de Graff. “We want to play well and earn the respect of our opponents. They are the best I’ve seen Rappahannock play in a long time, and I’m very proud of them,” he said.
