So neighbor, give the park, the power plants, your pocketbook, and the night sky a break. Turn on your street lights only to guide company to your home but shut them' off at a reasonable hour. If you miss bright lights, move back to the city. I think you will find most people here are more interested in the night sky being filled with the moon, stars, and milky way, as-it should be - not light pollution.

On behalf of the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad we would like to thank everyone for their contributions and donations to our fundraising letters and activities. We are now able to order an automatic Life Pack monitoring defibrillator for our rescue unit. Without your support this would have never been possible. We hope to continue updating our equipment and advancing our members’ training to better serve our community.

To the Editor:

The cure for the education mess is competition. As long as the present monopoly by government continues, the deterioration will continue.

That government schools are not providing quality education is clearly shown by the yearly decrease in SAT scores. They are also quite expensive, and the cost per student is considerably higher than most good private schools.

We say we live in a free country yet we are forced to pay for school systems that many find repugnant. Morality cannot be taught; prayer is forbidden; but the child is subjected
