According to Mr. Eldred, Mr. Robinson’s research revealed that the Acorn Globe fixture is not historically appropriate for the town. “The first street lights originated around 1919,” said Mr. Eldred. “These street lights were radial wave fixtures, similar to the Trimble House fixture erected near the Health Department.”
“In rural Piedmont areas of Virginia, there never had a streetlight like the Acorn Globe fixture,” he continued. “It would be historically incompatible to erect this fixture. ”
