Teen Dance
was success

Thanks to “Stir Fry” members Mike Shotton, Stevie Jeffries, Phillip Smiley and Joey Dunagan for providing an entertaining evening of music and cameraderie for CCWHY’s Teen Dance on Aug. 29 at the Washington fire hall.
Door prizes were graciously supplied by Cabin Fever Books, Country Heritage and Faith Mountain. Your support is appreciated.
Chaperones Marilu and Jim Bane, Susan and Harvey Fox, Anne and Tim Kerr, Linda and Perry Smiley, Linda Mock and John Tole were on hand to supervise and supply great eats.
Providing positive, substancefree youth activities and community awareness workshops is a challenge and a vital ingredient in the lives of our children.
It is CCWHY’s goal to continue sponsoring alternate youth activities, but this goal can only be accomplished with the commitment of the entire Rappahannock County population.
Please read our paper for future workshop dates and join this valuable effort to assure success of our youth population.
Thank you again to all who participated in success of CCWHY’s Teen Dance. I hope you all had fun.

To the Editor:
JYour Sept. 3 article “Power Plants Pollute Park,” on the front page of the Rappahannock News, has prompted me to address another type of pollution that is directly related. ®
Some time in mid-July, a row of bright lights appeared in Tiger Valley, probably along Route 626. At first glance, illumination for a party came to mind, but now that we are into September and the lights continue to burn ALL night - every night - it is clear that someone has installed 10-15 high intensity street lights.
What is the purpose of this conspicuous consumption? Security can be achieved with a less offensive alarm system or one good dog. I personally feel safer in Rappahannock County, in the dark, than I ever did in well-lighted cities.
