Later Chief Magistrate Francis Eldred and county magistrate Dieter Kneupfer came to the meeting and protested that decision. They said they had agreed to the move across the hall to the registrar’s office but not the move to the other building.

Mrs. Eldred protested that she had not been notified the supervisors were considering such a move. She said she frequently has to deal with domestic disputes and can separate people. She said that would not be possible in the Commissioner of Revenue’s building.

Col. Kneupfer said, “The issue is security. The people we deal with are not all choirboys. I can’t think of anything worse than having a half a dozen characters in that little room.”

Mr. Massie suggested the board “vacate” its previous motion and table the matter for another month so
