“We need to have more bodies,” Coach Dave Van de Graff commented. He also spoke of the excellent defense by Rappahannock, in particular Susan Jewell. “We played even with them for three quarters," said Coach Tupper. “I’m proud of them.”
The Rappahannock County High School Junior Varsity Panthers fought a hard game against the Luray Bulldogs Monday night but came up short in the end.
At the end of the first quarter, the score was seven to four with the Panthers in the lead, but Rappahannock lost its edge by the end of the first half.
In the second half, the girls took about the same number of shots as the Bulldogs but only made two compared to the Bulldogs four.
“Our defense was fairly good, our offense was okay,” said Coach Tupper, when asked to comment on the game. Coach Van de Graff added that the JV girls tired easily, but tried to push it more. The final score was Panthers 12, Bulldogs, 25.
