Approximately 15 to 10 people attended the Town Council public hearing last week which focused on design alternatives for replacement fixtures for street lighting in the town.
The meeting was held at the new Town Hall.
Donald Fentress, of Hadco, the company that has erected the Acorn Globe fixture near Trinity Episcopal Church, was present at the meeting to answer questions about the fixture and to present additional information. Also present was Rick Bowman of Potomac Edison.
According to Mr. Bowman, if the town decided not to use the standard Cobra Arm light fixture put up by Potomac Edison and chose a nonstandard fixture, a sodium vapor light bulb would still be required. Also required would be a “safe fixture” and easily assessable for maintence. Mr. Bowman also explained that the company only stocks General Electric light bulbs in 100, 200 and 300 watts and any other type of light bulb chosen by the town would have to be special ordered.
