The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, met at the Fauquier Springs Country Club in Warrenton on Tuesday, May 11 for a luncheon and meeting to celebrate the 70th birthday of the founding of the Chapter. Presiding was the Regent, Mrs. Thomas Eastham, who welcomed all and introduced the impress vie list of guests, comprising National, State, District and Chapter officers and members of neighboring chapters. Of special interest was the 70 year old hand painted flag, the original Culpeper Minute Men Chapter’s flag, brought in by Mrs. Claude Guinn to be displayed on this occasion.
The President General’s message was read by Mrs. Dieter Kneupfer. In it, Mrs. Blair spoke proudly of the DAR accomplishments over the years in the contributions and programs of the Society and stressed continued energies to promote and preserve the ideals of the United States.
The National Defense report, read by Mrs. Edward Barton, consisted of a Resolution passed at the Continental Congress in April, titled “I am an American” which encourages the use of English as our national language.
