The petition for expanded local area telephone service for 675-exchange customers in Washington gathered, in less than one week, four times the amount needed to begin the process.
It has been sent to the State Corporation Commission in Richmond, which will over the next three months do a cost study.
By Labor Day the second step should begin. All 950 “675” customers will receive a letter from the commission asking if they would be willing to have an exact anount, probably a few dollars, added to their bills to be able to call toll free tc all the Culpeper exchanges (937, 547, 825, etc.) We will be given 60 days to respond.
