Miss Virginia Lee Smith of
Washington will reign as the 1963 May Queen at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol.
A senior at the two-year girls’ school, Miss Smith will be crowned during the traditional May Day festivities May 31.
John Warner, principal of Washington Elemetary School has submitted his resignation to Rappahannock County School Board effective June 7th Mr. Warner has been principal here for the past two years.
The Rappahannock Library on Gay Street, Washington will be open all day the 4th of July and will be the site of a county wide exhibition of historic papers, documents, letters, maps, etc. which can be found pertaining to the Colonial and Antebellum periods of the Virginia Piedmont Area and particularly of what is now Rappahannock County.
By an overwhelming majority of votes the Student Cooperative Association of the local high school authorized the establishment of a Scholarship Fund from which graduates of R.C.H.S. may borrow, at a low interest rate, money to help finance their college education. The fund has been initiated by gifts of $175 from the S.C. A. and $125 from the graduating class of 1963.
