RCES field day Field day for the Rappahannock County Elementary School is Friday, June 4 with a rain date of Monday, June 7. The staff and PTO of RCES has the following suggestions for; comfort and best performance: 1. Dring plenty of fluids the day and evening before. Avoid soft drinks! Water and fruit juices are best. 2. Weat shorts, T-shirts and tennis shoes. It is a good idea to wear a hat and/or sunglasses. 3. Wear sunscreen and bring more to apply later in the day. 4. Bring a plastic water bottle. Fill it before going outside and refill it at the water tables. Please do not bring coolers or large water jugs.

A moveable feast Diners can enjoy a pleasant afternoon of dining at a variety of different bed and breakfast inns in Rappahannock County. Participants will be served a course at one inn, and them move to another to continue the meal. The repast is scheduled for two Sundays: July 4 and September 12. The cost is $60 per person. Breakfast at Flint Hill A breakfast sponsored by the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, June 26 at the fire hall. Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Contestants sought The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad will hold their annual carnival July 7-10. Girls between the ages of 6 and 18 who are interested in competing for Junior Honorary Fire Chief and Honorary Fire Chief please call Kim Gilkey-Breeden at 635-5601.
