At a recent meeting of the Bed and Breakfast Guild of Rappahannock County two new B&B’s were inspected and approved for membership in the eight year old guild. Both new members, Fairlea Farm and Heritage House, are located in Washington. The total membership of the guild is 11.
Since its inception three members have closed operation and five others have changed owners. Four others have continually operated with founding owners.
The first and oldest bed and breakfast is The Conyers House, which opened in 1981 and continues to be owned by Sandra and Norman Cartwright-Brown.
The second B&B to open was Gay Street Inn founded by Joyce Kramer, and owned since 1987 by Robin and Donna Kevis.
The third B&B was the FosterHarris House, founded by Pat Foster and Camille Harris, presently of Richmond and now owned by Phyllis Marriott.
Caledonia Farm in Flint Hill was the fourth B&B in the county and continues to be owned and run by Phil Irwin.
