I left for Biloxi, Miss., and the International Science and Engineering Fair, with my father on Saturday, May 8. We met Zee French, of Greene County, the other winner of the regional fair, and his dad at Dulles.
We took a jet flight from Dulles to Atlanta where we transferred to a 31-seat prop-plane. This plane took us to Gulfport Regional Airport, 1015 miles west of our destination in Biloxi. A bus service took us the remaining distance to the Gulf Beach Resort.
.This hotel was only 50 feet from the beach. For the rest of the day, we relaxed.
The next morning, Zee and I took our information to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, where the exhibits were to be displayed. We registered, and then spent the rest of the day on the beach.
On Monday, we completed registration and began to assemble our projects. At 3:30 p.m., we boarded buses for the opening ceremonies. The ceremonies were held at NASA’s Stennis Space Center, about 40 miles west of Biloxi.
We arrived at Stennis Space Center and had a barbecue dinner. At 7 p.m. the opening ceremonies began with the presentation of flags from all countries represented in the . fair.
