Next Monday, June 7, the Boarjl of Supervisors, in the last meeting of this fiscal year, will finalize the budget for the next. !
This is always a difficult job, an{l since the library (a county facility which is also a part of the Virginia State Public Library system) is again asking for an increase ih county funding, the Board of Trustees
is asking that the users of the ljbrary speak in support of this very important educational and cultural facility. *
Volunteers provide almost half (JJthe time spent by staff in running the library. They are skilled in the various chores required by a modern library — checking, cataloging, rtjsearching, filing, advising, etc. anfl provide the equivalent of over half the money budgeted for staff. We could not operate without them. f
Another quarter of the budget goes for the purchase of new book.'L magazines and audio-visual materials which must be constantly repleiji ished and updated, despite thy further addition of many iteir*; which are given to us by our patrons. ►
