Alumni and friends were treated to a couple of cliff-hanging games at the high school Saturday night in the Fifth Annual Alumni Basketball Tournament.
The team wearing yellow jerseys, made up of mostly older white guys, managed a one-point victory in the championship game over the team wearing white jerseys, made up of mostly younger black guys.
However, it was Jeff Porter from the class of '85 who won the Most Valuable Player trophy for the winning team, and it was Richard Tribino from the class of ’87 whose three-point shot put the team in white jerseys up one point with eight seconds to go.
Jeff Porter scored 29 points including two free throws in the closing seconds to pace the “yellow” team to its 85-84 victory. Bobby Settle class of ’69 had 16 points and Gary Leake class of'80 had 14.
