Christmas
Giving
To the Editor: !
It’s Christmas time again. Jt’s time to stop the hustle-bustle of everyday events and to give “Thanks” for the blessings we have.
Its also a special time for children everywhere, but because of cirrumstances beyond their control some children will not experience a happy Christmas. !
As a community project for the past three years Cadette Troop 402, Junior Troop 547 and Brownie Troop 929 will again decorate a Christmas tree at the Library that was donated by Fanning Baumgardner.
Each year the Girl Scout decorate the tree not just with ornaments but with the tags for girls and boys from this county who will not have a very merry Christmas tags are supplied by Social Services. ;
This year there are around; 25 tags for children on the tree, and they range from newborn to teenagers.
These children are very appreciative of the gifts, and the parents are thankful because they feel despair over not being able to provide enough for their children. ;
So if you feel it in your heart to share a little with someone less blessed or with a child that might not have a Christmas morning, please stop by the Rappahannock Library, and adopt a child for Christmas.
Gifts must be taken to Social Services on Gay Street on or before Dec. 17 to insure delievery by the personnel. i
As Girl Scouts of the Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Council ;we proudly co-sponsor this event with the Rappahannock Library to better our community and the world for all the little children. ! .
Thank you, God Bless and Mejry Christmas. > ,
