A native of' Rappahannock County, she was the daughter of the late Conner William and Nora Alice Haynes Whorton.
She is survivied by two sons, George Hamilton Peyton and James Richard Peyton, both of Amissville; six daughters, Cathy Blevins of Warrenton, Shirley Compton of Amissville, Anna Compton and Virginia Stringfellow, both of Sperryville, Margie Sheffield of Viewtown and Ethel Peyton of San Antonio, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 5 greatgrandchildren and a sister, Helen Compton of Amissville.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Nov. 28 at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper with the Rev. L.D. Savage officiating.
Interment was in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jack Compton, Wayne Chapman, Kevin Sanford, Harold William Compton, Ronnie Parker, Elmer Parker, Gus Harris and George Peyton Jr.
Geest-Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
