About 400 people in the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Culpeper district are. It’s their job to be ready to clear the roads of ice and snow to keep them as safe as possible for motorists to use during severe winter storms.
The season started with an inspection in October by operators and mechanics of the equipment to uncover any mechanical problems. It’s part of a regular preventive maintenance program.
