Crowds Expected

For Sperryvi lie's

Spring Festival

The Sperryville business community is expecting large crowds for this year’s Spring Festival Saturday and Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend.

At Country Manor a large tent will be set up outside. Owner Phyllis Swindler says it will be full of catalog close-out and overstock items, including spring and fall fashions.

Inside there will be specials at the Hazel Mountain deli.

Those who are so inclined should be able to begin their Christmas shopping, Mrs. Swindler said.

In the heart of Sperryville at the Faith Mountain Company Margie Ellis said the weekend will feature free Blue Grass Music including the Hazel River Band, Vickie Pratt Keating and Domell Pratt. These are entertainers people usually pay to hear, she noted.

The entertainers will be performing under a tent and the concerts will go on rain or shine, Ms. Ellis said.

Faith Mountain will have plants ready for the garden. Herbs and other bedding plants including flowers will be featured.

Inside customers will find a variety of fashions and gift items.

The company is also guaranteeing good food ineluding Nick Ochs of the Ochs Box and the traditional funnel cakes.

Other shops in the heart of town and out along the highway are also planning special sales for the weekend’s visitors.

A trip to Sperryville this weekend should also include a visit to the Emporium and the flea market in the parking lot as well as a visit to the many mini-shops in the Sperryville Antique Market.

Sperryville’s restaurants will be open and expecting large crowds.

The weather man is promising cooler weather for the weekend than the county experienced at the beginning of the week.
