Holly Gangel of RCHS ran her personal best time of 12:44 in the 3200-meter run at the regional track meet last Friday. That time was good enough to earn her a trip to the state track and field meet, to be held at the University of Virginia this Saturday. Holly finished fourth overall.
Also running his best time ever was Mark Jenkins, who finished eighth overall in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:47. To advance to the state meet, however, participants must finish in the top six.
Jason Waters and Mike Grimsley also came close to qualifying for the state meet Jason finished the 3200meter run a time of 10:33, and Mike finished with 10:36. They came in ninth and tenth, respectively.
Other competitors from RCHS were Dawn Havstad in the discus, and Jason Settle in the high jump.
