They’re juicy, fresh and brilliant red. They’re high in vitamin C and low in calories. They have no fat, cholesterol, or sodium. They’re the “berry” best - strawberries!
In addition to being good for you, strawberries are naturally sweet, delicious, and fun to eat. Try them plain. Slice them on your morning cereal. Toss them into fruit or lettuce salads. Or, whirl them in a blender with nonfat yogurt and a splash of fruit juice for a cool and frothy drink.
Strawberries and Nutrition
Low in calories and packed with vitamin C, a serving of eight medium strawberries (about 1 cup) provides excellent amounts of potassium and folacin and a good supply of complex carbohydrates and dietary fiber. One serving - which eqals about eight medium strawberries - is only 50 calories. Remember, it’s the sugar, whipped cream, ice cream, etc. that we ADD to the strawberries that adds the calories. So, if your’re watching your weight, enjoy them plain.
