Victorian Homes Magazine has just named Franklin and Esther Schmidt of Woodville, field editors.
In this position, the photographer/writer team will locate and evaluate homes for potential inclusion in the national magazine and then later photograph them and write the story that accompanies the images.
“Finding just the right properties suitable for publication is quite a challenge,” says Franklin Schmidt, “but we know that there are some wonderful houses locally. So many people with historic homes are rightfully proud of them, especially when they’ve taken on the challenge of refurbishing and maintaining them.” The couple travel throughout the U.S.. photographing homes for this and other national home decorating magazines.
The Schmidts and their work photographing log homes are the subject of an article in the May issue of Log Home Living Magazine. It describes their log home photography for magazines and log home manufacturers. The piece, a retrospective of the Schmidts’ work, includes their photographs of log homes manufactured by Hearthstone Log Homes and North Carolina artist, Bob Timberlake.
Also, recently, Country Homes Magazine’s Country House of the Year grand prize was won by Hearthstone Log Homes. The winning house, near Atlanta, George, was photographed for Hearthstone by the Schmidts.
