Since March, four independent polling organizations have found that North, if he is nominated, would be beaten in November by Senator Robb or any of the other three whom the Democrats may nominate. Those same polls, however, show that Jim Miller will bedt all of the possible Democratic nominees if he is nominated. I '
I realize that a lot of people find North attractive. However, assuming you are concerned primarily about the issues, Miller and North both believe that federal spending must be cut, that the deficit must be eliminated, that taxes be cut, that defense be protected, that public education be dramatically improved, that crime be brought under control, and that government regulations be pruned to the bare necessities. Bpcause of certain retirements in tine Senate, there is an excellent chance that the Republican Party may acquire a one or two seat majority and gain control of the Senate for the first time in many years. Sinfce Miller and North think the same on key issues, and since the polls consistently show Miller beating all the possible Democratic nominees and North losing to all of them, doesn’tlit make sense to go with a winner bn June 4? >
So it is vital that all delegates who support Jim Miller appear Jit the convention. Otherwise that convention may nominate a sure loser and allow the Democrats to return };o the Senate for six more years. ’ •
