During the first regularly scheduled meeting for the newly elected Washington Town Council, members voted to rescind a resolution which had passed unanimously last April.
The gist of that resolution stated, “Any person newly elected to the position of Treasurer shall be required to perform all the duties and responsibilities of that office, including the duties of the chairperson of the Water Authority and supervisor of the Town Engineer, for a period of one year or one complete budget cycle for the Town, whichever shall be greater, before delegating any such duties or responsibilities to another person, be that a deputy, an assistant, or any person employed by the Town.”
The subject of the resolution was brought up during the meeting by Council member Ray Gooch.
