appoint a “pastor search committee” which will work with local and state associations to find a new pastor to present to the congregation. In the meantime the church will be served by supply preaching and perhaps an interim pastor, he said.
He said it seemed to him that God was trying to bring him and the church in Boone “together right now.”
He said he realizes he is leaving with things left unfinished. “A lot of things are half done at Washington, and I hope they will continue,” he said. “A good pastor is always in a situation where a lot of things are half done, so there is never a completing point when it’s time to go because there’s nothing left to do. I have confidence the church will continue to seek God’s will and continue to do as a church those things they see as God’s will for them.” t
He said he will miss the community and friends in Rappahannock. “We appreciate everything people inside and outside the church have done to make us part of the community,” he said. “We will always have friends here.”
