College students are offering free exercise, training and care of horses in exchange for their use during the eight-month school year.
Students from Virginia Tech and Radford University are seeking horses to use for their intercollegiate equitation program, RedTech. Now, in its fourth year, RadTech is looking for six horses to use in its program for the 1994-1995 school year.
Horse owners loan their animals for eight months from the end of August until the end of April. RadTech accepts full responsibility for the horse’s board, shoeing, vaccinations,; worming and any other maintenance.
“This is a great opportunity for horse owners to have their horses well taken care of and ridden on a regular basis," said Front Royal’s Christi Hite, a Virginia Tech student who is the bam manager for RadTech. \
RadTech offers riding to about 35 team members, and they also offer supervised rides to many club members on the weekends. RadTech is the only such student-run intercollegiate program in the country.
