On arriving May 21 for dinner I was left waiting outside the locked door until two waiters came out and told me I could not enter that way. They intended to carry me through the front door. I use a Rascal Electric Cart, which is in no way suited for carrying. I am sure many would consider it helping to carry a disabled person through a doorway and i over a step. I consider it an insensitive gesture that emphasizes my dis- 1 ability.
Eventually, I was allowed to use the ramped entrance. However, when I was ready to leave I again faced a locked door. The manager insisted to my friend that I could exit through the front door, down a small 4-6-inch step. For a handicapped person there is no “small” step. We were told that an exit through thfe original entrance was being discouraged because the room had been rented for $150 a day. If money was the issue, my $160 for dinner should \ have outbid the room rent.
It was a thoroughly frustrating and aggravating final dinner at a beautiful restaurant. Being different should not make the disabled second class.

The ramped entrance leads to a hallway between the bedroom and bathroom of overnight accommodations. Normally when a handicapped person needs to use the ramp, if the rooms are rented, the management asks the customers to close the doors to the two rooms so the hallway can be used.
On the evening in question they were unable to get the attention of the customers who had rented the rooms, and that caused the delays in allowing Ms. Goad’s party to use the ramp, Ms. Barons said.
