Free Visition Screening Set
Dr. Kussell Brear and Dr. Darin Bowers will offer free preschool vision screens for children at Commonwealth Eye Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. “We will look for lazy eyes and other eye conditions that affect young children’s health and school performance,” explained Dr. Brear. “It is important to be sure that your children’s vision will not hold them back in school.”
The screen especially targets three to five-year-olds who are entering school, but children of any ages will be examined.

Art Celebration Planned
The Windmore Foundation for the Arts presents “The Art in the Park” Art Celebration at Precious Blood Church, corner of Main Street and Edmondson Street in Culpeper from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 23.
Seventy-five children, ages 6-12, will have on display dough art, baskets, tye dye, kites, charcoal pictures, origaimi, papermaking designs, acyrlics on wood and wreaths they have made. Entertainment will be provided by The Blue Ridge Barbershoppers at 12 noon. Face painting, hot dogs and drinks are also available for your enjoyment.
Equine Clinic Scheduled
An Equine Message Clinic with hands on instruction will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 30 at Brymara Sport Horses in The Plains. For more information call 364-4458.
Youth Football Sign Up*
Sign up for Rappahannock’s team in the Skyline Travel Football League will be held from 9-11 a.m. this Saturday, July 23 at RCHS.

Flint Hill Carnival
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual carnival Aug. 10-13. The parade will begin at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11. The crowning of the queen and prizes will be awarded on Saturday night with the grand prize being a Chevrolet Geo Metro.
Biathlon Scheduled
The American Cancer Society is sponsoring the fourth annual Mountain Run Lake-Biathlon in Culpeper at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14.
The event takes place on the gently rolling paved roads surrounding the park. The race is a biathlon consisting of a 4.1 mile run, 18.2 mile bike and ending with a 1 mile run. This year the race can be entered individually, or as a member of a team that consists of one runner and one biker.
