Dominion
The star of Paramount Pictures new feature film, “Lassie,” will visit Paramount’s Kings Dominion on Friday, Aug. 26. Lassie is the eighth generation descendant of the original collie who starred in the first Lassie movie. While appearing at Paramount’s Kings Dominion, Lassie will entertain, meet park guests and pose for photographs. Shows will take place on the International Street Bandstande at 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Lassie will be accompanied by her trainer, Bob WeatherWax, whose father, Rudd, started the Lassie legacy when he trained the original collie that starred in “Lassie Come Home.” Lassie’s unique family markings include a white blaze running from between the eyes down to the nose, a full white collar of fur around the neck, and four white feet. Since the first of the Weatherwax Lassies, careful breeding has preserved these markings in descendants to sustain the Lassie look.
The star of nine feature films and more than 600 television episodes, the character of Lassie has come to be recognized as a symbol of love, loyalty, courage and compassion.
