Agent Hurst also testified that he believed the street price of marijuana to be between $180 and $200 per ounce in October, 1993, the date of the offense.
Two witnesses, Lewis Burke and Jimmy Wayne Nicholson, testified that they had purchased marijuana from the defendant on at least one occasion, that he had given them some on other occasions, and that they had smoked together at the defendant’s house. *
Mr. Burke and Mr. Nicholson also testified that they had seen marijuana growing in the house. Mr. Nicholson claimed that he had bought a bag of marijuana from the defendant at least once a week from 1992 until October 1993.
The defendant testified that he used to grow marijuana outside before moving into the house next to Laurel Mills Store. He said that he started growing them inside because of problems with bugs, snakes and people stealing some.
He said that he had been smoking “herb” since he was 14, and that he was breeding plants to get out the genetic defects, and for the most potency. He denied having sold any marijuana to the two witnesses who said he had.
