The digitized driver’s license and ID card, first issued in 1992, are produced using a video camera instead of a traditional camera. Known as digitized imaging, the process stores the driver’s image and other driver information in DMV’s computer. This information may be retrieved later by DMV and used to verify the driver’s identity.
