When asked his thoughts on the recent failure of the same referendum question in neighboring Loudoun County, Ten Eyck merely said that “it increases our chances from one in six to one in five. I am truly sorry that any jurisdiction would vote against racing in this manner.”
The Virginia Racing Commission is expected to have reached a decision concerning which of five remaining track applicants will be awarded the license before the November elections in question. A license should be handed out by Sept. 29.
