Mrs. Josie Florence Wharton, 87, widow of Oscar Thomas Wharton, of Woodville, died on Sunday, Aug. 7 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital- ,
A native of Rappahannock Coimty, she was the daughter of the late Clarke and Betty Jane Jenkins Corbin.
She was a member of Five Forks Regular Baptist Church near Woodville.
She is survived by two sons, James E. Wharton of Chester Gap and Jessie J. Wharton of Culpeper; two daughters, Geneva F. Burke and Lillie M. Johnson, both of Woodville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Corbin of Manassas; and four sisters, Mattie Wharton of Front Royal, Elizabeth Hawkins of Castleton, Mary Weakley and Dora Carter, both of Culpeper.
She was predeceased by two sons, Hayward T. Wharton and Henry A. Wharton; a grandson, Robert Alan Johnson; and five brothers. i
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper with the Rev. Kirby Shenk officiating assisted by the Rev. Wilfred Deppen. Interment was in Sperryville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Burke, Charles Johnson, Albert Wharton, Richard Wharton, Richard Burke snd Charlie Hawkins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sperryville or Washington Volunteer Resque Squad.
