At his trial, Oliver North was acquitted on a majority of the crimes he was charged with because he was considered by a jury to be the tool of more important officials who were not subject to trial. In respect to the three charges for which he was found guilty, the convictions were overturned on technical grounds, namely, that they fell within the immunity that had been granted by Congress during the investigation. The facts on which the guilty verdicts were based were not challenged. Because the president himself was involved in the IranContra scandal, the political character of the situation enabled Oliver North to cash in on his TV-won fame.
Oliver North’s political approach has been reckless and abusive; he has raised questions about the legitimacy of government as well as about settled government practices. Should he be elected, serious harm will have been done to the trust people can have in the due process of law.

Charles Robb does have a good chance to win. Your support can enhance Robb’s chances. Vote for him. You may never have as clear-cut an opportunity to cast as significant a vote as you will have this November.
