The board will meet a second time during a month if there are more than two pupil discipline cases to be heard or if there is other urgent business. For August the second meeting would be Thursday the 25th. For September it would be Monday the 19th. For October it would be Wednesday the 26th. For November it would be Monday the 21st. No second meeting is scheduled in December. Starting in January the second meeting if held will be on the fourth Thursday of the month.
Both school principals presented their new student handbooks for the board to look at and make suggestions. The high school also has a teacher handbooks and handbooks for coaches and student athletes.
Dr. Gangel presented test scores to board members noting, “This year our test scores are down, but I don’t see a trend.” } The board approved starting a program coordinated with the Sheriff’s Department to prevent students from bringing weapons to school. Dr. Gangel emphasized that toys that look like guns, even water pistols, will be treated as weapons.
