Heavy rain Monday night and Tuesday morning, added to several rains in the past week, created flooding conditions throughout Rappahannock County, but especially along the Rush River.
The Washington Fire Hall was designated the command center for dealing with problems created by the flooding. VDOT, the Sheriffs Office and the county’s fire and rescue squads organized to help rescue people trapped by the flooding.
A.K. “Kirk” Davis, 43, left his house in Harris Hollow on foot about 6:30 a.m., apparently to check on his equipment, and did not return.
Helicopters from the State Police and Pegasus searched along the Rush River for him without success.
